Learn new ways to find a more comfortable breath. A gentle introductory series.
Breathing - we all breathe. Yet sometimes it is difficult. Or it has been constricted through injury, illness or stress. Maybe you ache to be able to have a gentle, easy breath.
DURATION OF EACH CLASS: 30 minutes
INTRODUCTORY LESSONS: 4-classes
COURSE DESCRIPTION: You will be able to do the class in the position of your choice: sitting or lying on the floor, or even in your bed. It's not just about breathing, it's about finding the ways to experience the breath to be easy, relaxed, responsive to your needs.
In each class you will learn
- about the amazing apparatus of breathing that we are born with;
- how you can find your way to breathe easier
- tantalizing hints on how you can increase your ease and comfort
I have taught these lessons individually and as parts of series of classes, but because there is such a need for finding easy breathing, I am offering a course just for breathing.
My first love was maths and sciences, leading to systems analysis – human and also computer systems. This led to a Masters in Educational Measurement, followed soon after with training in biofeedback at the California Pain Control Centre in Long Beach, California.
These studies opened a thirst for broader study, from massage, Reiki, energy systems, yoga and Tai Chi. I was always deeply drawn to the practice of mind-body integration and found that training in the Feldenkrais Method® gave me the best grounding in this way of being in the world. I graduated from my four-year Feldenkrais training program in 1991 and have maintained a private practice since.
I love working collaboratively and have volunteered for many years. I enjoyed being President of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America and have also had the opportunity to contribute to the International Feldenkrais Federation (IFF).
My interest in all things digital have intertwined with my Feldenkrais interests. I was an early adopter and advocate of online teaching (even before the Covid-19 2020/21 pandemic. This has been an important combination of skills as co-organizer of the Kelowna Feldenkrais Teacher Training that began online in 2021.
